UPDATE 3:56- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT Issued for Bootjack, Mariposa, Catheys Valley, Le Grand, Gin Flat and Crane Flat.
At 348 PM PDT, Doppler radar was tracking a line of strong
thunderstorms 13 miles north of Chowchilla, or 16 miles east of
Merced, moving northeast at 35 mph.
Half inch hail and winds in excess of 30 mph will be possible with
this storm. Thunderstorms are capable of producing tornadoes, be
aware of your surroundings. Be sure to report any severe weather to
law enforcement or National Weather Service.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
UPDATE 2:49PM- Severe Thunderstorm Warning extended until 3:15pm for the Coulterville/ Lake Mc Clure area.
UPDATE 2:35PM- Coulterville / Greeley Hill area has been included in warning area.
UPDATE 2:30PM: Reports of approx 1 inch of hail on Hwy 132 near Merced Falls rd area. Please drive with caution in the area.
UPDATED: 2:22PM- DOWNGRADED TO A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM UNTIL 2:45 for the Lake Mc Clure area of Mariposa County.
